Queens, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball suffered a devastating 66-61 defeat at the hands of Queens College on Saturday afternoon at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
STAC falls to 12-9 overall and 7-3 in ECC play, while Queens improves 6-15 and 2-8.
Erin Leary led the way for the Spartans, recording a game-high 24 points, while teammate Sarah Ericson tallied 15 points.
STAC shot 31.3 percent (21-67) from the field, while Queens shot 51.0 percent (25-49) from the floor and 45.5 percent (5-11) from beyond the arc.
STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Seven Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the contest.
- Trinity Cheatom led the maroon and gold with five assists apiece on the afternoon.
- Erin Leary hit 8 of her 22 field goal attempts, with 3-of-7 going in from beyond the arc. She was also 5-for-6 from the charity stripe. Meanwhile, Sarah Ericson went 4-of-13 from the floor, with all four shots going in from long distance.
- Queens out-rebounded STAC by a 41-31 margin, with Erin Leary grabbing a team-high nine boards for the Spartans.
- St. Thomas Aquinas picked up eight steals, with the Knights turning the ball over on 17 separate occasions.
- The Spartans earned advantages in four team statistical categories over Queens: Point off Turnovers (12-11), Second Chance Points (14-7), Fastbreak Points (7-6) and Bench Points (10-0).
