Syrita Faraj Tabbed All-Met Division II Women's Basketball First Team Selection

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team picked up some hardware on Thursday, as the annual Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association awards were released. Senior guard/forward Syrita Faraj was tabbed as a First Team All-Met selection.

Faraj, who joined the Spartans for the 2024-25 season following stops at both the College of Saint Rose and Russell Sage College, played in 24 regular season games while averaging 32.6 minutes per game. The Troy, New York native ranked first on both the team and in the ECC in points per game (17.3) and total points (414), first on the Spartans (2nd ECC) in rebounds per game (10.0) and total rebounds (240), first on the maroon and gold in steals per game (1.4) and second in total steals (34), and third on the squad in assists per game (1.7) and total assists (40).

Faraj was also named an All-Conference First Team selection by the East Coast Conference on March 6 and the ECC Player of the Week on January 6. 

The 2024-25 All-Met teams will be honored at the 92nd MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner on Thursday, April 24, at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown, NY. The Haggerty dinner is the longest running, media-managed college basketball awards program in the United States.
