
Waterbury, Conn. - Despite five Spartans scoring in double figures and a late fourth quarter rally to force overtime, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team dropped their fifth straight contest in heartbreaking fashion, falling to Post University 90-84 at the Drubner Center on Tuesday afternoon.
STAC slips to 3-10 on the year, while Post moves to 2-11.
Syrita Faraj posted game-highs in points (31) and rebounds (17) for the maroon and gold, while teammates Cassidy Mahaney (14 points), Abby Jacoby (11 points), Karolina Jaruseviciute (10 points) and Delaney Finnegan (10 points) also scored in double figures. Alyssa Rossignol led the host Eagles with 21 points.
St. Thomas Aquinas shot 48.5 percent from the field (33-68), while Post shot 43.1 percent (31-72) from the floor.
STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:

- STAC had its largest lead of the game (10 points) with just over four minutes to play in the third quarter, 57-47, on a Cassidy Mahaney layup.

- St. Thomas Aquinas trailed Post 37-35 at the half and shot 50.0 percent (15-of-30) from the field.
- Syrita Faraj led all scorers with 13 first half points for the Spartans, while shooting 67.0 percent from the field (6-for-9).
- St. Thomas Aquinas' best shooting quarter came in the third stanza, with the Spartans shooting 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the field and 57.1 percent (4-for-7) from long range.

- The Eagles earned advantages in two team statistical categories over St. Thomas Aquinas: Points Off Turnovers (20-13) and Fastbreak Points (13-10).
- Post had its largest lead of the game (13 points) with just under four minutes to play in the opening quarter, 20-7, on a Hannah Finnerty three-point jumper.
- Hannah Finnerty led all Eagles scorers at the half with 11 points on 50.0 percent shooting from both the field (4-of-8) and three-point (2-of-4).
- Post's best shooting quarter came in the opening frame, with the Eagles shooting 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from the field and 62.5 percent (5-for-8) from beyond the arc.
