STAC Falls To Goldey-Beacom, 72-69, For Third Straight Defeat

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team dropped their third straight decision on Wednesday evening, falling to Goldey-Beacom College, 72-69, at Aquinas Hall.

STAC falls to 3-8 on the season, while Goldey-Beacom moves to 2-10.

Syrita Faraj posted a team-high 17 points for the maroon and gold, while teammates Abby Jacoby (16 points) and Trinity Cheatom (14 points) also scored in double figures. Julie Kulesza led the visiting Lightning with a double-double, scoring a game-high 31 points, while also grabbing 10 boards.

St. Thomas Aquinas shot 45.3 percent from the field (29-64), while Goldey-Beacom shot 45.8 percent (27-59) from the floor.

STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Seven Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the contest.

  • Eight Lightning logged double-digit minutes in the contest. 
  • Julie Kulesza led Goldey-Beacom with 31 points. Teammate Katie Yoder (14 points) also scored in double figures.
  • Julie McCarron and Karlie Lemon led Goldey-Beacom with four assists apiece on the night.
  • Julie Kulesza went 12-for-21 from the floor, 2-of-4 from three and 5-of-7 from the foul line, with Katie Yoder hitting 6 of her 12 field goal attempts.
  • Kulesza also grabbed a game-high ten boards for the Lightning.
  • Goldey-Beacom picked up four steals, with the Spartans turning the ball over on 10 separate occasions.
  • The Lightning earned an advantage in one team statistical category over St. Thomas Aquinas: Second Chance Points (14-12).
  • Goldey-Beacom had its largest lead of the game (14 points) in the opening seconds of the third quarter, 42-28, on a Julie Kulesza layup.
  • Julie Kulesza led all scorers at the half with 19 points on 8-of-14 (57.1 percent) shooting from the field.
  • Goldey-Beacom's best shooting quarter came in the second stanza, with the Lightning shooting 64.3 percent (9-14) from the field and 100.0 percent (4-4) from beyond the arc.
