Sparkill, N.Y. - Despite receiving a double-double performance from Bailey Chapman, while also holding their opponent to only 49 total points, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team dropped a 49-44 decision to Assumption University at Aquinas Hall Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.
STAC falls to 0-2 on the year, while Assumption moves to 2-0.
The aforementioned Bailey Chapman posted a team-high 14 points and game-high 12 rebounds for the maroon and gold, with Emily Collins led all scorers with 21 points for the visiting Greyhounds.
St. Thomas Aquinas shot 31.5 percent from the field (17-54), while Assumption shot 31.0 percent (18-58) from the floor.
STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Eight Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the contest.
- Bailey Chapman also led the maroon and gold with five assists on the afternoon.
- Chapman hit 5 of her 17 field goal attempts, with 3-of-7 shots connecting from long distance. Trinity Cheatom went 2-for-5 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the foul line.
- Assumption out-rebounded STAC by 41-39 margin, with Bailey Chapman also grabbing a game-high 12 boards for the Spartans.
- St. Thomas Aquinas picked up six steals, with the Greyhounds turning the ball over on 17 separate occasions.

- STAC's second half rally attempt narrowed the score to just two points on occasions in both the third and fourth quarters, and the maroon and gold outscored Assumption 25-19 in the final 20 minutes of action.
- Meanwhile on the other end of the floor, the Spartans' defense was locked in; forcing turnovers, jumping routes and making life extremely difficult for the visiting Greyhounds all game.
- St. Thomas Aquinas' best shooting quarter came in the third frame, with the Spartans shooting 42.9 percent (6-14) from the field and 60.0 percent (3-of-6) from long range.
