St. Thomas Aquinas Adds Women's Bowling

St. Thomas Aquinas College Director of Athletics Gerald Oswald announced that the Department of Athletics has added women's bowling as an official NCAA Division II sport for the Fall 2017 season. The newly-formed program will be led by coach Dale Aivaz.  

Aivaz has been an amatuer and professional bowler from 2006 bowling in numerous amateur and professional tournemnts around the country.  He has bowled 45 career games of 300 as well as 25 career 800 series.  In 2008, he was a top 40 finisher in th 65th US Open.  In 2009, Aivaz took 2nd place in the PBA East Region Homefield Open and was also in the top 64 in the PBA Long Island Open.  

Aivaz has over 50 tournament wins and is a 8 time Hi-Tor Shootout Champion and a 6 time Homefield Bowl King of the Hill winner.  

He has been a longtime bowling instructor for kids through adults at all levels and skill ranges.  He has coached at Ardely Athletic Club, Great Balls of Fire and most recently Homefield Bowl as a coach and league assistant.  

Aivaz is eager to help the Spartan women's bowling team be competitive and looks to build a strong intercollegiate program.  

This is the Spartans 19th collegiate sport and 10th NCAA women's sport; joining field hockey, soccer, tennis, cross country, basketball, indoor & outdoor track & field, lacrosse and softball. The program will compete in the ECC along with Adelphi, Daemen, Felician, Franklin Pierce, Kutztown and Molloy.
