Women's Bowling Competes At Chestnut Hill Griffin Baker Classic

New Castle, Del. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Bowling team competed in the Chestnut Hill College Griffin Baker Classic on Saturday and Sunday at Bowlerama in New Castle, Delaware. The Spartans faced off against 19 Division I and II institutions, playing in a total of 49 baker matches in the two-day tournament. STAC finished the event with a total pinfall 6,574 (3,370 pins on day one and 3,204 pins on day two).

With the addition of senior Katie Healy (Nanuet, N.Y.) to the roster for the remainder of the season, the Spartans were able to shoot their highest baker series, scoring a 736 against Roberts Wesleyan University. The maroon and gold also swept a best of seven, bracket round match versus Holy Family University.

Saturday's tournament action saw STAC fall to Coppin State University (830-644), hosts Chestnut Hill College (791-639), Wagner College (927-701), Caldwell University (838-650) and Roberts Wesleyan University (856-736).

In Sunday's matchups, St. Thomas Aquinas went 1-3 in contests against Molloy University (Loss 788-628), Mercyhurst University (Loss 1,167-695), Felician University (Loss 760-647) and Holy Family University (Win 696-576). The championship bracket round of the tournament featured STAC defeating Holy Family, 538-377 to finish 19th overall in the two-day event.

St. Thomas Aquinas will next compete at the Suffolk Community College Tournament on Saturday, February 11 at Bowlero in Babylon, N.Y. and then take part in the Wagner College 3-Match Dual on Sunday, February 12 at Rab's Country Lanes on Staten Island.
