Women's Bowling Earns Second Place Finish at Suffolk C.C. Tournament

West Babylon, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Bowling team was back in action on Saturday at the 18th Annual Suffolk Community College Tournament, which was held at AMF Babylon Lanes on Long Island.

STAC enters the second half of the season looking to improve its game both as a team and individually, and to sustain its momentum from tournament to tournament, as the squad is just weeks away from postseason competition at the East Coast Conference Women's Bowling Championship Tournament.

In Saturday's tournament, teams competed in three doubles, three singles and five baker matches, with the doubles pair of Shaniah Alago (Sr.|Bronx, N.Y) and Samantha Larkin (Jr.|Harriman, N.Y.) placed third overall in a close battle of overall pinfall. This helped the Spartans rack up some much needed scores in order to make them contenders for the championship round.

A hard fought effort by the maroon and gold, allowed St. Thomas Aquinas to earn a second place finish and put them within striking distance of taking first place. All in all it was a good showing for the Spartans on the weekend and Head Coach Brianna Jones was thrilled with the team's level of play and continued improvement.

STAC next returns to action for the three-day Wilmington University (Del.) Wildcat DII-III Invitational, Friday, February 16 through Sunday, February 18 at Bowlerama in New Castle, Delaware.
