Women's Bowling Battles DII & DIII's Best at Wilmington Wildcat Invitational

New Castle, Del. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Bowling team returned to action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, competing against some of Division II and III's best at the three-day Wilmington University Wildcat Invitational.

Day one at Bowlerama featured five, five-game baker matches, which saw the Spartans record a 3,439 series and a victory over D'Youville University (703-682).

When the teams returned to the lanes for Saturday action, the focus was shifted to more traditional matches. STAC battled in five contests, featuring doubles and singles competition. The maroon and gold totaled 3,762 pins on the day and saw Samantha Larkin (Jr.|Harriman, N.Y.) lead the way for the Spartans with an 831 series, averaging 166.20 per game.

In the championship round on the final day of competition, all 13 participating teams went head-to-head in three, best-of-seven baker matches. After having a bye in the first round, St. Thomas Aquinas faced off with crosstown rivals Dominican University. The Chargers took a 1-0 lead after game one, but the Spartans then took victory in games two and three to take an 2-1 overall advantage. Dominican rallied back with three straight victories to close out the series four games to two, advancing to the next round of play. STAC concluded its day with another bye in the final round to place 13th overall in the three-day event.

It was an eventful weekend for the maroon and gold, as they saw 8,048 pins fall over three days, while the team continues to grow and improve from its experiences on the lanes.

STAC next returns to action at the Adelphi University DezyStrong Classic, which will be held on Saturday, March 2 at Jib Lanes in Flushing, N.Y.
