Wilmington Pushes Past STAC, 14-8

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team lost to Wilmington, 14-8 in yesterday's non-conference game.  Lindsay Lawless had three goals and an assist for STAC while freshman Johannah Mitchell added two goals along with sophomore Anne Buttafuoco.

Marianne Kugler scored the first goal for STAC a little over seven minutes into the game, making the score 4-1.  Mitchell's first goal brought STAC within three, 5-2.  The wildcats added four more goal in the half to take a 9-2 lead at the break.  The Lady Spartans opened the half with goals from Anne Buttafuoco and Lawless.  Down 14-4, the Lady Spartans continued to fight hard, scoring the last four goals of the game.  Mitchell connected on her second goal at 52:27, followed by back to back goals from Lawless.  Buttafuoco scored the final goal in the last minute of play.  Senior Jen Kugler had 17 saves for STAC.

The Lady Spartans will return to action as they face Molloy on Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
