The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Maritime College in their season opener on Wednesday evening.  Junior Anne Buttafuoco scored 6 goals while Stephaine Brown added 5 for STAC.  Jeanette Gibson had six saves for the Lady Spartans. 

STAC took a 3-0 lead early into the game behind two goals from Brown and one from Buttafuoco.  STAc held an 8-3 lead at the break as Johannah Mitchell scored two Lady Spartan goals in the final minute of the half.  Mitchell finished with 4 goals and 1 assist. 

STAC outscored Maritime 9-3 in the second half.  Alannah McCalister added 2 goals in the second half and 3 assists for the game.  Liz Gronwoldt also had a goal for STAC.

The Lady Spartans will host Wilmington University on Monday at Maritime at 2:00 p.m.
