The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team lost to Wilmington, 17-13. Stephanie Brown had 4 goals while Anne Buttafuoco and Johannah Mitchell each added 3 goals. Alannah McCalister scored 2 goals and Casey Michelotti had 1.
The Lady Spartans fell behind 8-1 in the opening 10 minutes of play before rallying to pull within three, 9-6 behind a goal from Brown. Wilmington added one more goal before the break to hold a 10-6 lead at the half.
The Wildcats opened the second half with five consecutive goals to take a 15-6 lead. However, the Lady Spartans would not go away quietly scoring five unanswered goals of their own to come back within four, 15-11. Each team added a pair of goals to close out the game.
Jeanette Gibson recorded 10 saves for the Lady Spartans. Liz Case had 4 goals for Wilmington and keeper Corinne Dries recorded 14 saves.
STAC will return to action on March 29th when they travel to play Mercy College.
