The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team lost to AIC, 14-10 this afternoon.  Johannah Mitchell had 3 goals for STAC while Anne Buttafuoco, Alannah McCalister and Casey Micholetti each added 2.  Buttafuoco also had a team high 3 assists.

Down 5-0 in the first half the Lady Spartans rattled off 3 goals in a four minute span to come within two.  Each team added one more goal apiece as AIC held a 6-4 lead at the half. 

The Yellow Jackets took control of the second half as they scored the first 4 goals before Mitchell added her 2nd goal.   With under 20 minutes of action remaining the Lady Spartans scored four more unanswered goals; two from Buttafuoco and one from Mitchell and McCallister to come within three, 12-9.  Liz Gronwoldt added the final Spartan goal at the 12:00 mark ut it was not enough as AIC held on for the victory. 

Jeanette Gibson had 5 saves for the Lady Spartans.  STAC will return to action on Monday when they play Wilmington University at Maritime at 2:00 p.m.
