The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Lake Erie, 17-10. Margaret Sharp had 6 goals and 1 assist for the Lady Spartans. Anne Buttafuoco and Alannah McAllister each added 3 goals while Genevieve Stickney had 2 goals and 1 assist. Stephanie Nelson had 7 saves for STAC.
The Lady Spartans fell behind 2-0 before scoring three goals in a row, one from Stickney and two from Sharp to take a 3-2 lead with a little under 15 minuted remaining in the half. Both teams exchanged goals heading into the break tied at 7-up.
STAC opened the second half with a goal from McAllister. Lake Erie's Meredith Howe scored and tied the game for the last time. The Lady Spartans went on a 6-0 run and continued to dominate the second half. Sharp led the way with 3 goals during that stretch and Buttafuoco added two.
Stephanie Brown, Kellie Kucinski and Alexis Serras each scored for the Lady Spartans. STAC will have a quick turn around as they host Seton Hill Sunday afternoon. They Lady Spartans are now 5-3 with a 4 game winning streak at Torne Valley.
