The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Philadelphia University, 17-15 in Friday afternoons game. Anne Buttafuoco scored 3 goals in the win, recording her 100th career goal. The Lady Spartans received 5 goals from Genevieve Stickney and 4 goals from Margaret Sharp. Stephanie Nelson had 14 saves for STAC.
Buttafuoco scored the Lady Spartans first goal of the game at the 23:34 mark, making the score 3-1 in favor of Philly. Buttafuoco's goal sparked a 10-2 run, giving STAC a 10-5 lead at half time. Sharp along with Stephanie Brown each scored 3 goals in that stretch.
Philadelpia opened the second half scoring five unanswered goals to tie the game at 10-up. Again it was Buttafuoco who responded for the Lady Spartans scoring a goal at 18:29, sparking a 7-1 run for STAC to regain control of the game. The seniors 100th goal came at 11:33 to give STAC a 15-11 advantage.
Alexis Serras added 2 goals for STAC. Taylor Peltzer had 5 goals and 1 assist for Philly and Emily Ray added 4 goals. The Lady Spartans are now 6-4 and will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Dowling College for a 4:00 game.
