Lady Spartans Stay Strong at Home, 22-15 Win Over Pacers

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Marywood College, 22-15 to pick up their 3rd win of the season and remain perfect at home.  Margaret Sharp had a game high 7 goals to lead the Lady Spartans while Genevieve Stickney added 6 goals.  Anne Buttafuocochipped in 4 goals and 1 assist.

After ten minutes of strong defense by both teams, Alexis Serras scored the first goal of the game at the 19:21 mark.  The Pacers scored the next two goals before Buttafuoco and Sharp struck to give STAC a 3-2 lead.  The Lady Spartans closed the half with four straight goals; two from Stickney and two from Sharp, to even the game at 8.

Alannah McAllisters goal off a Buttafuoco assist, gave STAC a 13-12 lead, they would not relinquish.  STAC out scored Marywood 9-3 in the final 16 minutes of play.  Johanna Mitchell, Kellie Kucinski and Samantha Lowney each added goals for STAC.  Kim Commisso scored a team high 4 goals for Marywood.

Stephanie Nelson had 4 saves for STAC.  The Lady Spartans will return to action on Wednesday as they take on Southern Connecticut State at 3:30 pm.
