The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team lost to Mercy College on Saturday, 18-10.  Senior Anne Buttafuoco scored 5 goals for the Lady Spartans.  Buttafuoco has 34 goals for the season and over 100 career goals.  Freshmen Genevieve Stickney had 2 goals and 1 assist.  Margaret Sharp, Johanna Mitchelle and Stephanie Brown each added a goal for STAC.

The Mavericks dominated the first half outscoring STAC, 10-1.  Sharp had the Lady Spartans only goal of the half, 10 minutes into action to make the score, 2-1.  The Lady Spartans opened the second half on a 3-0 run, with Brown, Sharp and Buttafuoco each scoring a goal. 

Buttafuoco scored all of her goals in the second half but the Lady Spartans could not close the gap falling to 7-7 for the season.  Marissa Hurley had 4 goals for Mercy while Michelle Teirnan and Kelsey Bub each added three. 

The Lady Spartans will honor their two seniors; Buttafuoco and Sarah Schmidt, in a pre-game ceremony on Wednesday night.  STAC will play their final home game on the season at Torne Valley with a 7:00 pm start time.
