The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team lost to C.W. Post, 22-10 this afternoon. Freshmen Genevieve Stickney scored 8 of the Lady Spartans 10 goals. Anne Buttafuoco and Margaret Sharp each added a goal for STAC. Stephanie Nelson recorded 2 saves.
The Pioneers got off to a quick start scoring the first four goals of the game. Stickney had back to back goals to bring STAC within two, 4-2, however a pair of goals from Ashley Olen gave C.W. Post a 6-2 lead. Stickney scored again for the Lady Spartans and the Pioneers responded again with another two quick goals.
Down 8-3, the Lady Spartans stepped up their intensity scoring the next four goals, two from Stickney, one from Buttafuoco and one from Sharp, to come within one, 8-7. However, C.W. Post closed the half scoring four unanswered goals to take a 12-7 lead at the break.
The Pioneers dominated the second half outscoring the Lady Spartans, 10-3. Olen had 6 goald for the Pioneers. Jackie Sileo had 4 goals and 7 assists for C.W. Post.
The Lady Spartans will return to action on Friday when they travel to Philadelphia University for a 4:00 game.
