Knights Top Lady Spartans, 16-10

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team fell to Queens College, 16-10 on Thursday afternoon.  Margaret Sharp led the Lady Spartans with four goals, while Anne Buttafuoco and Genevieve Stickney each added two.  Alexis Serras acored one goal and added two assists for STAC.

Queens dominated the opening minutes of action scoring the first 8 goals of the game.  Heather Rosen had 4 of the Knight's goals during that run.  Serras put the Lady Spartans on the scoreboard with 13 minutes remaining in the first half and STAC went on to outscore Queens, 5-2 to close the half.  Sharp had two first half goals as the Spartans were down 10-5 at the break. 

The Knights opened the second half with three goals in the first ten minutes of action to extend their lead to 13-5.  The Lady Spartans reseponded with three goals of their own, including one from Samantha Lowney.  Sharp scored STAC's final goal off an assist from Serras with .06 seconds remaining in the game to bring STAC within six.  Alannah McCallister and Johannah Mitchell each added an assist for the Lady Spartans. 

STAC will return to action on Saturday when they host Mercy College.  Game time is slated for 11:30 am.
