Lady Spartan Lacrosse Volunteers at Mickey Sullivan Duathon

On October 7th, the St. Thomas Aquinas Women's Lacrosse Team volunteered their time to help raise awareness for Huntington's Disease. The Mickey Sullivan Duathlon to benefit Team KJ was held in Pearl River, NY.   The race included a 2 mile run, 10 mile bike ride, followed by another 2 mile run.

Huntington's Disease is a degenerative brain disorder for which there is no cure. More than a quarter of a million American have, or will inherit the disease. This disease often occurs in middle aged males and females, ages 30-50.  Individuals afflicted with the disease suffer from cognitive impairments, such as depression, forgetfulness, as well as deterioration of motor skills.  HD develops rapidly eventually progressing to the point where individuals require full-time care. Team KJ is a group of friends and family who participate in events in order to raise money in the hopes that one day a cure for Huntington's Disease will be found. Team KJ has donated over $400,000 to research since 2005 and also supports families in the community dealing with Huntington's Disease.
