Lady Spartans Edge Bridgeport 7-6

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Lacrosse team moved up to 9-1 with a close win over the University of Bridgeport.  It was their first conference win of the 2013 campaign.  Samantha Lowney led the Lady Spartans with 3 goals.

Both team traded goals the entire first half leading to a 4-4 draw at the half.  Four different Lady Spartans scored during the stretch beginning with a Victoria Gregson goal at 21:19.  Five minutes later, Lowney scored her first goal of the game off a Margaret Sharp assist.  Sharp added one of her own before Kellie Kucinski notched the final goal of the first half.

Only two minutes into the second half, Sharp struck again.  It was then Bridgeport that gained the momentum with two goals by Alex Costa.  Lowney stepped up, scoring two more goals and giving the Spartans their final lead with 8:58 left to play.

Freshman goal keeper had another stellar performance with 9 saves.  She has played every minute in the goal this season and is 9-1.

The Lady Spartans will now be on a 10 day hiatus before returning to action at Queens on April 6th at noon.
