Lady Spartans Fall to Molloy

The St. Thomas Aquinas Women's Lacrosse team lost to Molloy College 14-7 in their second game at Spartan Field.  This is the first loss for the Lady Spartans following a program best 7-0 start.  Kellie Kucinski and Margaret Sharp led STAC with two goals each.

The Lady Spartans took an early lead with a goal by Alexis Serras, but the Molloy Lions quickly reciprocated with two goals of their own.  The teams then exchanged goals four times with Molloy taking a 6-5 lead with 1:10 left in the first half.  Sharp (1), Kucinski (2) and Genevieve Stickney (1)scored within that stretch.

A decisive run in the early minutes of the second half put the Lions up 9-5 before Samantha Lowney scored off a Kucinski pass.  Molloy answered with a goal of their own followed by the final Lady Spartan goal by Sharp with 22 minutes to play.  The Lions scored four consecutive goals to close out the second half.

Freshman goal keeper, Kaitlyn Lonergan recorded 14 saves in her first loss of the season.  The Lions held a 37-25 advantage in the shots column.

The Lady Spartans return to action on Saturday as they travel to East Stroudsburg in a non-conference match-up scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
