Lady Spartans off to Program Best Start, Topping AIC, 11-8

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat AIC, 11-8 on Saturday afternoon.  Genevieve Stickney scored 5 goals while Margaret Sharp added 3 goals and 2 assists.  Kaitlyn Lonergan had 16 saves as the Lady Spartans advance to 5-0.   

The Lady Spartans continue to dominate games early in the first half as they opened a 6-1 lead behind two goals and an assist from Sharp.  Stickney scored the first two goals of the game sandwiched around AIC's first goal.  Kellie Kucinski and Ruth Pluviose eached added a goal in the early stretch.  Stickney finished with one more goal and the Lady Spartans held a 7-3 lead at the break. 

Johanna Mitchell and Alexis Serras eached scored for goals for STAC in the second half.  Stickney is currently leading the Lady Spartans with 23 goals and 1 assist while Sharp has 16 goals and a team high 12 assists.  Kucinski as well as Samantha Lowney each have 11 goals in the first five games while STAC has received goals from five other players. 

Lonergan has recorded 46 saves so far this season as the Lady Spartans are off to a program best 5-0.   The Lady Spartan will travel to Southern Connecticut on Tuesday.
