STAC Lax Continues Streak in Spartan Field Debut...Top FPU 14-7

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Franklin Pierce, 14-7 in their debut game at their new home Spartan Field.  The Lady Spartans extend their win streak to 7-0, posting a program best start and they are two wins shy of the winningest season in the history of the program.

Samantha Lowney scored 5 goals for the Lady Saprtans while Kellie Kucinski and Alexis Serras each added 3.  STAC fell behind early but posted four consecutive goals to regain control of the game.  The Lady Spartans had a balanced offensive attack with four different goal scorers during that stretch; Serras, Margaret Sharp, Lowney and Genevieve Stickney.  Both teams exchanged goals as Serras and Lowney scored for STAC, who held a 6-4 lead at the break. 

Kucinski scored back to back goals in the second half, followed by a third Lowney goal to open the lead to 9-5.  Lowney added to more goals down the stretch as STAC was able to hold off the visitors, 14-7.  The Lady Spartans recieved another strong performance in goal from Kaitlyn Lonergan, who recorded 8 saves.

The Lady Spartans will open conference play on Wednesday, March 20th at 3:00 p.m. when they host Molloy College.
