Knights Edge Lady Spartans, 8-7 in Overtime

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team lost to Queens College on Saturday afternoon in a tough 8-7 overtime defeat.  Genevieve Stickney and Samantha Lowney each scored three goals for STAC and Margaret Sharp had one.  Kaitlyn Lonergan had eight saves for the Lady Spartans.

The Knights were first on the scoreboard with a quick goal to open the game but the Lady Spartans responded with 3 goals of their own.  Lowney scored to even things up and then back to back goals from Stickney gave STAC a 3-1 lead.  Johanna Mitchell added an assist in the Lady Spartan's run.  STAC remained in controll for most of the first half and held a 5-3 advantage at the break. 

STAC extended its lead with another Lowney goal to open the second half but the Knights came back strong.  Queens scored the final three goals in regulation to tie the game and continued their momentum into overtime.  Sarah Boucher scored the game winning goal for the Knights and had three goals for the day.

The Lady Spartans are 9-2 and will travel to LIU Post for another conference match on Wednesday.
