Lady Spartans Too Strong for Redhawks, Stickney Nets 100th Career Goal

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Roberts Wesleyan College, 19-13 on Saturday afternoon.  Genevieve Stickney led the offensive charge with 6 goals; including her 100th career goal.  Margaret Sharp had 3 goals and 3 assists and Kellie Kucinski had 4 goals.

Kucinski helped STAC off on the right foot scoring the first goal of the game twentey seconds into action, on a free position shot.  Both teams exchanged goals early on, with the Lady Spartans getting a goal from Ruth Pluviose and another Kucinski goal to tie things up, 3-3.  STAC went on to outscore Roberts 7-2 for the remainder of the half, including 5 goals from Stickney in the run. 

Stickney scored 51 goals as a freshmen and with her 4th goal of the day she recorded her 100th career goal.  The sohpomore is the quickest Lady Spartan to achieve this milestone in just 29 games.  Stickney has already tied last years total and has three regular season games left. 

The Lady Spartans received two goals from Alexis Serras, Samantha Lowney and Pluviose.  Lauren Dunn scored 4 goals for the Redhawks while Marissa Sell added 3.  Kiatlyn Lonergan had 8 saves for the Lady Spartans in the win.  STAC recorded their 10 win of the season and moves to 2-3 in the ECC. 

Saturday's game represented the Lady Spartans think pink game in which they used a goal-a-thon to help raise money for breast cancer awareness and research.  STAC was proud to play for Nancy Kucinski, mother of Kellie Kucinski, who is battling the fight with breat cancer.

The Lady Spartans will travel to Mercy on Wednesday for a 3:00 p.m. game.
