Lady Spartans Earn ECC Victory over Mercy

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Mercy College, 15-7 on Saturday afternoon.  Genevieve Stickney had 5 goals and 1 assists to lead the offense for STAC. Samantha Lowney had 4 goals and 2 assists and Margaret Sharp added 2 goals and 2 assists.

Ruth Pluviose opened the scoring for STAC in what started off as a back and forth game.  Kellie Kucinski's goal at the 20-minute mark gave STAC a 3-2 lead that they would not relinquish. STAC took an 8-3 lead into the half including a goal from Sabrina Prestano.  Stickney and Lowney each had two first half goals.  

Mercy pulled within three, 10-7 with 14 minutes remaining.  Back to back plays from Sharp to Stickney sparked a strong finish from the Lady Spartans.  Kaitlyn Lonergan recorded 11 saves to fight off a Maverick's run and Kelly Moresi played a strong defensive game shutting down Mercy's top scorer.  

The Lady Spartans will return to action on Thursday when they host Chestnut Hill at 3:00 p.m.
