Five Spartans Named to Women's Lacrosse All Conference Teams

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team had five players receive all conference honors.  Grad student Courtney McGrath was named the ECC Defensive Player of the Year as well as a first team all conference selection as a midfielder.  Senior Kellie Kucinski also received first team all conference accolades as a midfielder.  Alyson Brennan, Samantha Lowney and Rosa Prestano were all second team selections.  

McGrath had 36 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers which were both good for fifth in the conference. She scored 32 goals and had a team high 41 assists on the season.  Kucinski led the Spartans in scoring with 53 goals this season including scoring over 100 career goals for the Spartans. Kucinski added 29 draw controls, 19 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers and 9 assists.  

Lowney was named to the second team all conference as an attack and was the Spartans second leader in goals scored with 36 this season.  The senior also scored over 100 career goals as a Spartan and added 26 draw controls, 25 ground balls and 12 assists.  

Alyson Brennan joined the Spartan lacrosse team for the first time this season and received second team honors as a defender.  Brennan had 22 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. Fellow defender Rosa Prestano  rounds out the all conference selections for STAC, being named to the second team for defense.  Prestano had 15 ground balls and 5 caused turnovers for the Spartans.  

The Spartans finished their season with an overall record of 10-6 and an ECC record of 6-2.  STAC will graduate their top four points leaders; Kellie Kucinski, Samantha Lowney, Courtney McGrath and Genevieve Stickney.  All four have started and played in every game this season for the Spartans. Kucinski, Lowney and Stickney all leave STAC having scored over 100 career goals while guiding the Spartans to the post season for back to back seasons.
