Kucinski Lifts Spartans To Overtime Win at Bridgeport

St. Thomas Aquinas lacrosse player Kellie Kucinski's scored her 5th goal of the day in overtime to give STAC a 12-11 win over Bridgeport.  Samantha Lowney and Caroline Finnen each scored two goals for the Spartans and Lowney added two assists.  Kaitlyn Lonergan had four saves for STAC.  

The Spartans opened the game 3-0, with Lowney scoring the first goal at 28:38, followed by two goals from Kucinski.  Bridgeport's first goal came from Rebecca Reig at the 24:37 mark.  Reig finished with two goals for the Purple Knights.  STAC responded with a goal from Finnen off an assist from Lowney, followed by a goal from Genevieve Stickney off an assist from Kucinski.  

The Purple Knights went on a run scoring the next four goals to tie things at 5-5.  Lowney, Finnen and Kucinski each added another goal to close out the half with the Spartans ahead 8-6.  

Bridgeport controlled the early portion of the second half scoring four goals to STAC's one and taking a 10-9 lead.  Courtney McGrath's goal with 7:08 remaining tied things up for the 4th time.  Sabrina Prestano added a goal from an assist by McGrath to give the Spartans the advantage but the Purple Knights responded quickly evening things back at 11 all.  

During the overtime session it was Kucinski's goal of a free position shot that lifted to Spartans to victory.  STAC moved to 3rd place with a 5-2 record in ECC play. The Spartans will play at UDC on Sunday.
