Spartans Stay Strong, Winning Third in a Row, 17-11

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Wilmington University, 17-11 on Tuesday afternoon.  Genevieve Stickney paced the Spartans scoring a team high five goals while Kellie Kucinski added four goals and one assist.  Kaitlyn Lonergan had seven saves for STAC.

The Spartans opened the game with another strong start scoring the first seven goals; two from Kucinski and two from Samantha Lowney.  Sabrina Prestano's goal at the 11:38 mark gave STAC a 7-0 lead.  Prestano went on to score two more goals in the second half and contributed two assists.  

Wilmington scored four goals late in the first half and a goal from STAC's Ruth Pluviose, gave STAC an 8-4 lead at the break.  The Spartans opened the second half dominating again, scoring five unanswered goals. The Spartans outscored the Wildcats, 9-7 in the second half. STAC had six different goal scorers as Courtney McGrath had two goals and one assist.  

STAC will return to action on Saturday when they host Molloy College at 1:00 p.m. Saturday's game will represent the senior day game for Courtney McGrath, Kellie Kucinski, Samantha Lowney and Genevieve Stickney.
