
The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team lost, 15-9 at Mercyhurst on Sunday afternoon. Genevieve Stickney had 3 goals and 1 assist for STAC while fellow senior Kellie Kucinski added 2 goals. Kaitlyn Lonergan recorded 9 saves for the Spartans.
Kellie Kucinski continued her strong offensive preformance by scoring the first goal for STAC at the 25:18 mark, to bring them within two, 3-1. Ruth Pluviose added a first half goal, along with back to back goals from Stickney as the Spartans were down 6-4 at the half.
The home team outscored STAC 9-5 in the second half dominating the opening minutes with four straight goals before Stickney scored her final goal at the 19:02 mark. Freshmen Caroline Finnen added a goal for the Spartans. Courtney McGrath had 3 assists and 1 goal while Samantha Lowney added 1 goal and 1 assist.
Becky Himes had 5 goals and 3 assist for Mercyhurst. The Spartans will return to action on Saturday when they host Dowling College for the first ECC game of the 2015 season.
