Prestano's Goal Lifts Spartans to 12-11 Win

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Philadelphia University, 12-11 this afternoon.  Ruth Pluviose scored five goals for the Spartans. 

Rosa Prestano's goal off an assist from Caroline Finnen gave the Spartans a 12-11 lead with 1:42 left in the game.  Philadelphia University got one last second attempt that went wide as the Spartans held on for the win.  Kaitlyn Lonergan had 6 saves in the win.

Courtney Dumain got things started off for the Spartans scoring the opening goal of the game.  The Rams scored back to back goals to take a 2-1 lead over the Spartans.  Pluviose scored her first goal of the game with 20:38 on the clock.  Marist Parr added her two goals to give STAC a 4-2 lead.  

Dumain and Pluviose each added another first half goal along with Katherine Borriello as the Spartans held a 7-5 advantage at the break.  Three more goals from Pluviose and a goal from Alyson Brennan gave STAC an 11-6 lead with 20 minutes remaining.  

The Rams made a late run scoring five unanswered goals to tie the game at 11, with five minutes remaining. Prestano came up big for the Spartans scoring the game winning goal.  

The Spartans had 20 shots on goals compared to the Rams 17 and won the draw controls, 14-11. STAC will return to action on April 2nd when they travel to Roberts Wesleyan.
