Spartans Overpower UDC, 17-5 on Senior Day

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat UDC, 17-5 on Saturday afternoon.  The Spartans recognized their five seniors in a pre-game ceremony for their last home game of the season. 

The Spartans dominated right from the start scoring the first two goals of the game and winning the first half 12-3.  Caroline Finnen scored four first half goals to pace the Spartans.  Courtney Dumain and Ruth Pluviose each had two first half goals with Dumain adding three assists and Pluviose had two.  Marist Parr and Katherine Borriello each had a first half goal and Parr added an assist.  

The Spartans had ten different goal scorers for the game with Alyson Brennan and Sarah Quarto scoring a goal in each half.  Samantha Rifice, Emily Glennon and Elizabeth Cazzari each added a goal in the second half.  The Spartans outscored the Firebirds 5-2 in the second half.  

Kaitlyn Lonergan had four saves in the win seeing thirty minutes of action.  Melissa Gabay and Laura Delorenzo each recorded two saves in goal.  The Spartans held the advantage on the draw control, 13-11 with Pluviose winning four of them.  Brennan and Quarto each picked up three.  Amber Walls had two goals and three assists for the Firebirds.

The Spartans will return to action when they play at Bridgeport on Saturday, April 30th.  Saturday's game will be the final regular season game and is slated for 7:00 p.m.  The Spartans are currently 9-7 overall and 4-3 in ECC play.
