Spartans Pick up Back to Back Wins, Beating Dominican, 19-10

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team won its second consecutive game, beating Dominican College, 19-10.  Ruth Pluviose topped her last performance of 5 goals by scoring 7 of the Spartans goals.  Katherine Borriello added 4 goals and 1 assist.

STAC came out strong scoring the first three goals of the game; one from Borriello and two from Pluviose.  Shayne Gallagher's goal at the 25:49 mark put the Chargers on the score board but the Spartans rattled off five more goals.  Borriello added two more in that stretch as well as goals from Sarah Quatro, Pluviose and Caroline Finnen.  Finnen finished with 3 goals for the day.

Three late goals by the Chargers as well as Pluviose's 4th goal gave the Spartans a 9-4 lead at the break. Back to back goals from Christina Brennan brought the Chargers within three, 11-8 at the 18:54 mark in the second half.  However, that was as close as they would get as the Spartans scored eight out of the final ten goals for the game.  Sabrina Prestano came on strong in the second half finishing with three goals and one assist.

Freshmen Emily Glennon scored her first collegiate goal for the Spartans.  Melissa Gabay recorded 11 saves in the win for the Spartans.  STAC will host two games this weekend, starting with Queens College on Saturday at 1:00 and East Stroudsburg, Sunday at noon.
