East Stroudsburg Holds Off Spartans, 12-4

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team lost to visiting East Stroudsburg, 12-4 in Sunday afternoons game.  The Spartans received goals from four different players and Courtney Dumain added the only Spartan assist.  

The Spartans got on the scoreboard early with a quick 2-0 start, but the ESU Warriors were too strong, outscoring the Spartans, 7-0 for the remainder of the half.  Samantha Rifice scored in the first :30 seconds of action off an assist from Dumain.  Sabrina Prestano followed with another quick goal to give STAC a 2-0 lead.  Brooke Fritz scored two goals for the Warriors along with five other players to take a 7-2 advantage into the break.

After another ESU goal to start the second half, the Spartans rattle off two more back to back goals. Caroline Finnen and Sarah Quatro's goals brought STAC within four, 8-4 but the Warriors defense held them off the rest of the way.  Fritz and Lauren Green finished with 3 goals each for the Warriors.

Kaitlyn Lonergan had 8 saves for the Spartans.  STAC will return to action on Wednesday, March 9th when they host Georgian Court University for a 1:00 p.m. game.
