St. Thomas Aquinas Women's Lacrosse players Caroline Finnen and Kaitlyn Gutenberger were named the East Coast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week respectively on Monday following the Spartans 1-0 week.
Finnen, the junior attack from Hicksville, NY, scored six goals and added three assists for nine points in the Spartans’ 14-9 win over Dominican College. Finnen assisted on the goal that gave the Spartans the lead for good. She also added two goals and two assists in the second half to secure the win.
Meanwhile, Gutenberger, the freshman attack/midfielder from Stony Point, NY scored four goals of her own in the Spartans victory over Dominican. Gutenberger’s first goal gave the Spartans their first lead of the game, coming from behind. The freshmen added three more second half goals to secure the win. Gutenberger had 5 draw controls and 1 ground ball.
The 1-2 Spartans return to action on Wednesday, March 8th for a 4pm road contest at East Stroudsburg University. STAC then travels to Massachusetts on Saturday, March 11th for a 1pm tilt with Assumption College.
