Gutenberger Lifts Spartans Over Roadrunners, 14-13

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Ramapo College, 14-13 on Tuesday afternoon. Kaitlyn Gutenberger scored seven goals including the game tying and game winning goals.

Kaitlyn Gutenberger scored the first goal of the game off an assist by Gabrielle Di Fusco.  Both teams exchanged goals throughout the first half with Ramapo holding a 6-4 halftime edge.  Gutenberger scored three of her seven goals in the first half and Leanna Iobbi added one.  

STAC scored six out of the next seven goals to gain a 10-7 lead early in the second half.  Di Fusco scored three goals during that stretch, while Iobbi added two and Jennifer Farrell scored one.  

Ramapo regained the lead, scoring the next four goals to take an 11-10 advantage.  Both teams exchanged goals with Gabi Davidson scoring the home teams' final goal at the 6:25 mark to take a 13-12 lead.  

Gutenberger tied things up at 13 just 25 seconds later and scored what ended up being the game winning goal with 2:04 remaining.  Katherine Feigenbaum had 16 saves in the win.  Ramapo had a 41-30 advantage in shots.  

The Spartans are 6-7 overall and will return to action on Saturday when travel to Queens for a 1:00 p.m match-up.
