Iobbi Tallies 100th Career Goal in 22-12 Loss to Wilmington

Newark, Del. - Leanna Iobbi tallied her 100th career goal as a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team in a 22-12 loss to Wilmington University on Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

STAC fell to 0-2 on the young season, while Wilmington improved to a perfect 4-0.

How it Happened

  • The Wildcats scored the first six goals of the contest, as Taylor Lambeth, Makenzie Stritzinger (2), Campbell Heller, Maddie Day and Amelie Gamache all tallied for the hosts. 
  • Danielle Cajou broke the shutout for the Spartans to make it 5-1.
  • Wilmington closed the first quarter scoring, with Campbell Heller and Maddie Day picking up their second goals on the afternoon to give their team a 8-1 lead through 15 minutes of action.
  • Leanna Iobbi opened the second quarter scoring, just 16 seconds into the frame, before Wilmington would strike back for back-to-back tallies by Maddie Day and Campbell Heller, as the Wildcats continued to lead, 10-2.
  • Iobbi would score three more times in the frame, but Wilmington would get four more goals by; Ella Baynes (2), Maddie Day and Lauren Gresham to take a 14-5 advantage to the halftime locker room.
  • Following the break, the Wildcats scoring would continue, with Campbell Heller and Taylor Lambeth scoring two goals apiece and Maddie Day scoring her fifth on the afternoon. Leanna Iobbi found the back of the cage twice more for the Spartans, with Alexa Paternoster getting her first of the game, as Wilmington continued to lead 19-8 through three quarters.
  • Fourth quarter action saw St. Thomas Aquinas outscore Wilmington 4-3 in the stanza, Danielle Cajou and Micaela Ross picking up two goals apiece. Ella Baynes, Taylor Lambeth and Maddie Day closed out the scoring for the Wildcats to give them a 22-12 victory.
