Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought battle to D'Youville University, 15-13 on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field. STAC moves to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in ECC play, while the Saints improve to 7-5 and 1-1.

How it Happened

• St. Thomas Aquinas opened the scoring with a goal by Leanna Iobbi to make it 1-0.
• The Saints picked up back-to-back goals to take the lead at 2-1.
• Both teams traded a pair of goals, with Micaela Ross tallying twice for STAC. 
• D'Youville held a 4-3 lead through the first 15 minutes of action.
• A Julia Reggio strike early in the second quarter knotted the game at 4-4.
• The visitors untied the game moments later, before Micaela Ross, Alexa Paternoster and Leanna Iobbi scored consecutive goals to give STAC the 7-5 advantage.
• D'Youville closed stanza with four straight tallies to take a 9-7 lead into the halftime break.
• Following the intermission, STAC outscored the Saints 3-2 in the third quarter on the strength of goals by Jennifer Stevens, Micaela Ross and Danielle Cajou. However, the visitors continued to lead by the slimmest of margins at 11-10 going into the final period of play.
• A pair of goals by D'Youville opened the fourth quarter to extend the Saints lead to 13-10.
• Olivia Cerbo cut the margin to two with her first goal of the day, making it 13-11.
• The Saints struck for back-to-back goals to push their advantage to four, 15-11.
• STAC attempted a furious comeback, netting consecutive goals of their own via Leanna Iobbi and Micaela Ross, but time was not on their side and D'Youville took the contest, 15-13.
