Women's Lacrosse Slated to Finish Sixth According to ECC Preseason Coaches Poll

Sparkill, N.Y. – On Tuesday, the East Coast Conference announced the results of its Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll, with St. Thomas Aquinas College picked to finish sixth in the league's standings. 

The Spartans posted a 2-12 record (1-5 ECC) in 2023 and will return ten players from last year's squad, including; McKenzie Schlechtweg, Hailey Galison, Samantha Cerrato, Annavictoria Mazariegos, Rachael Paraskos, Katelyn Cerrato, Olivia Cerbo, Brianna Meuse, Laura Hazelton and Arianna Tribble.

Third year head coach Genesis Pachecho has added a mix of upperclassmen and freshman for the upcoming campaign. Ella Entress (Attack | Patchogue, N.Y.), Brianna Cote (Midfield/Defense | Auburn, Mass.), Meghan Tarantino (Defense | Suffern, N.Y.), Lilah Magenheimer (Goalie | Eatontown, N.J.), Clare Griffin (Defense | Orange County, N.Y.), Charlotte Luquer (Attach/Midfield | Farmindale, N.Y.) and Madison Powers (Defense | Long Island, N.Y.) make up the new faces who will bring their skills and talents to Sparkill for the new season.

St. Thomas Aquinas will battle two-time defending ECC Champs Mercy University, along with Roberts Wesleyan University, Molloy University, D'Youville University, Daemen University and the University of the District of Columbia for the right to be called ECC Women's Lacrosse Champion. The teams will only play each other once in the regular season.

The action gets underway for the Spartans on Saturday, February 17 (1:00 p.m.) against non-conference opponent American International College at Ronald J. Abdow Field in Springfield, Massachusetts.
