Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 23-5 defeat at the hands of their crosstown rivals, Dominican University, on Thursday afternoon at Spartan Field.
STAC falls to 4-9 on the season, while Dominican improves to 11-2 on the year.
Ella Entress led the Spartans' offense with two goals on the afternoon. Teammates, Katelyn Cerrato (1 goal, 2 assists), Arianna Tribble (1 goal, 1 assist) and Olivia Cerbo contributed to the cause, with each tallying a goal for the hosts. Freshman goalie Lilah Magenheimer (L, 4-9) got the start between the pipes for the maroon and gold and stopped 8 of 31 shots faced.
Meanwhile, Dominican was led by Grace DeStasio and Erica Ortiz, who put up a pair of eight-point days with seven goals and a helper apiece. Madelyn Grella tallied a hat-trick and six assists, while Ellie Brouer scored twice for the Chargers. Additionally, Caitlin Costello (1 goal, 4 assists), Alexa Preston (1 goal), Alivia Chieca (1 goal) and Lea Henke (1 goal) added to the totals on the scoreboard for the visitors. Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (W, 11-2) stopped two-of-six shots in 34 minutes of action, before Kathryn Ehrlinger took over in the cage and turned away two-of-three shots to close out the non-conference matchup.
