Women's Lacrosse Falls to Southern New Hampshire 21-2 in 2024 Season Opener

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team opened its 2024 season at Spartan Field on Sunday afternoon, facing off with Southern New Hampshire University. The visiting Penmen set the tone early with 12-first quarter goals en route to a 21-2 victory over the Spartans.

STAC falls to 0-1 on the season, while SNHU moves to 1-0 on the year.

Sophomores Ella Entress (Patchogue, N.Y.) and Arianna Tribble (Ridge, N.Y.) led the Spartans' offense with a goal apiece on the afternoon. Freshman netminder Lilah Magenheimer (L, 0-1) got the start between the pipes for the maroon and gold and stopped 10 of 31 shots faced.

Meanwhile, So. New Hampshire was led by Angelina Graziano who tallied five goals and two helpers, while Katelyn Hadden added four goals and three assists and Shelby Cole scored four goals and added a pair of assists. Teammates Skylar Renaud (3 goals, 1 assist), Rachel McLaughlin (2 goals), Eliana Anderson (1 goal, 3 assists), Skylar Pietz (1 goal, 2 assists), Donatella DeCicco (1 goal, 2 assist) and Camdyn Swain (1 assist) added to the totals both on the scoreboard and the scoresheet. Goalies Megan Petko (W, 1-0), 2 Saves and Nicole Mirra, 6 Saves split time in the cage for the Penmen.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • SNHU outshot STAC 45-11 (31-10 on goal) for the game.
  • Arianna Tribble tallied a team-high four shots (four on goal) for the Spartans.
  • Hailey Galison, Olivia Cerbo and Lilah Magenheimer each gathered three of the Spartans 14 ground balls in the match.
  • So. New Hampshire won 16 of 26 draw controls on the afternoon.
