Women's Lacrosse Stalled By Felician, 18-10

Rutherford, N.J. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team hit the road on Thursday for an early afternoon matchup with Felician University at Tryon Field in New Jersey. Scoring nine goals in each half, the host Golden Falcons ran past the Spartans 18-10.

STAC falls back to the .500 mark at 3-3 on the year, while Felician gets back even at 3-3.

Katelyn Cerrato led the Spartans' offense with five goals and an assist on the day. Meanwhile, Hailey Galison picked up four goals, while Jada Garcia contributed to the cause by tallying a goal and a helper for the maroon and gold. Goalie Lilah Magenheimer (L, 3-2) got the start between the pipes for STAC and stopped 24 of 42 shots faced.

On the opposing sideline, Felician was led by Eva Moreland, who racked up a seven point day with five goals and two assists. Nicole Jenal added four goals and two helpers, while Kayla Fox, Kathleen Lopez and Claudia Goncalves tallied a pair of goals each for the Golden Falcons. Additionally, Gabby Sammarco (1 goal, 1 assist), Ryan Beyer (1 goal) and Alyssa Tropeano (1 goal) added to the totals on the scoreboard for the hosts. Jessica Naoum (W, 3-3) turned aside 5 of 15 shots thrown her way to earn the victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Felician outshot STAC 51-16 (42-16 on goal) for the game.
  • Katelyn Cerrato tallied a team-high nine shots, with eight going on frame for the maroon and gold.
  • Hailey Galison gathered six of the Spartans 15 ground balls in the contest.
  • Galison also won two draw controls and caused a pair of Golden Falcons turnovers on the afternoon. 
  • STAC won just five of 31 total draw controls.

STAC opens conference play, hosting Daemen University on Saturday, March 22 at Spartan Field. The opening draw between the Spartans and Wildcats is set for 12:00 p.m.
