
Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team opened the East Coast Conference-portion of their 2025 schedule on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 24-3 loss at the hands of Daemen University at Spartan Field.
STAC falls to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in ECC play, while Daemen moves to 3-5 and 1-0 on the year.
Jada Garcia tallied a pair of goals for the Spartans, while Katelyn Cerrato struck for a goal of her own. Goalie Lilah Magenheimer (L, 3-3) got the start between the pipes for the maroon and gold and stopped 11 of 29 shots faced, before being relieved by teammate Ailsa Ogilvie for the start of the second half. Ogilvie turned aside 1 of 7 shots fired her way.
Meanwhile, Daemen was led by Avery Castner, who tallied five goals, while Shannen Calandra added four goals and five assists, Ella Bouley, Katelyn Deveans and Maria Salvo scored three goals each, with Bouley also adding a helper. Teammates Kylie Miranto (2 goals, 2 assists), Cadence Baren (2 goals), Cameron Briggs (1 goal) and Grace Heath (1 goal) added to the totals on the day for the visitors from Amherst, New York. Goalie Marianna Szamoskozi (W, 1-0) got the start for the Wildcats and allowed three goals on eight total shots faced.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Daemen scored the first six goals of the match, before Jada Garcia struck for STAC to break the shutout. The Wildcats then struck for the next 12 goals to make it 18-1 at the half. Once the teams returned from intermission, the visitors from Western New York tallied twice more, but Katelyn Cerrato and Jada Garcia answered with goals for the Spartans to make it a 20-3 game. Four additional goals from Daemen over the final 17 minutes of action put the final score at 24-3.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Daemen outshot STAC 39-10 (36-8 on goal) for the game.
- Jada Garcia and Katelyn Cerrato tallied a team-high three shots apiece for the Spartans, with two going on net for each player.
- Hailey Galison gathered five of the Spartans 12 ground balls in the match.

- STAC won 12 of 30 draw controls, with Hailey Galison winning ten.
