STAC Women's Lacrosse Downed By Wilmington, 20-9

Sparkill, N.Y. - A fifteen-goal first half scoring barrage by the visiting Wilmington University Wildcats sent the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team to their fifth straight defeat, 20-9, at Spartan Field on Thursday afternoon.

STAC slips to 3-7 on the season, while Wilmington improves to 8-4.

Hailey Galison tallied four goals and an assist for the Spartans, while Katelyn Cerrato scored a hat trick and added two helpers and Jada Garcia found the back of the net twice with shots. Goalie Lilah Magenheimer (L, 3-4) got the start between the pipes for the maroon and gold and stopped 11 of 31 shots faced.

Meanwhile, Wilmington was led by Ella Royer, who scored five goals and added three assists, while Eden Ward added five goals and an assist and Tristan Holdsworth tallied a hat trick and added three assists. Teammates Michaella Cook (2 goals, 3 assists), Alea Javorowsky (2 goals, 2 assists), Mia Schultz (1 goal, 1 assist), Anastasia Giannoulis (1 goal, 1 assist) and Madasyn Hugel (1 goal) added to the totals on the day for the visitors from Delaware. Goalie Ashleigh Lawry (W, 4-3) got the start for the Wildcats and allowed three goals on five total shots faced, before being replaced by Allison Schiavone for the start of the second half. Schiavone stopped three of nine shots thrown her way.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Wilmington outshot STAC 34-19 (31-14 on goal) for the game.
  • Hailey Galison tallied a team-high seven shots for the Spartans, with five going on net.
  • Galison also gathered seven of the Spartans 14 ground balls and caused two Wildcats turnovers on the afternoon.
  • STAC won 16 of 32 draw controls, with Katelyn Cerrato capturing eight.
