Lady Spartans Drop Final Game to Adelphi 5-1

Gronwoldt Scores Late Goal for STAC

Season Recap

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's soccer team dropped their final game of the season to Adelphi yesterday afternoon.  The Lady Spartans finish the season with a record of 3-12-2.  Freshmen Liz Gronwoldt scored the only goal for STAC at 31:49 in the second half. 

The Lady Spartans were led by freshmen Katherine Dapolito who scored eleven goals in her rookie campaign.  The eleven goals are the most scored in a season by a freshmen in over nine years.  Gronwoldt finished with twelve points for the season with five goals and two assists.  Sophomore Nicole Biolsi rounded out the top scorers with a total of ten points, recording four goals and two assists.

Senior Stacey Samora finished her career with a total of fourteen goals and seven assists and will be strongly missed for her hard work as she has been a consistent asset to the Lady Spartan soccer program for the past four years.  Fellow classmate Carolina Bruschi also played her last game on Tuesday finishing her career with six goals and two assists.  The Lady Spartans received a goal apiece from Michaelle Kelley, Ashley Nevins, Christine Kennelly and Liz Pagnani over the course of this season. 

Freshmen goalkeepers Cynthia Campion and Julia Karl shared minutes in goal throughout the season recording 68 and 34 saves respectively.  Maria Morgana, Kayla Hubela and Renee Remmers played solid minutes in the backfield for STAC fighting off the opposition's strikers. 

The Lady Spartans will return sixteen players next season, half of whom gained valuable experience this year as freshmen.
