Spartans Shut Out Clippers 3-0

Dapolito Leads Spartans with Career High 11 Goals

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's soccer team blasted Concordia 3-0 in yesterday's ECC matchup.  The Spartan's Katherine Dapolito scored the opening goal of the game just twenty minutes into play.  Dapolito scored her second goal of the day off a breakaway that she shot past the Clippers goalkeeper Aileen Alvear at (66:05).  Junior Ashley Nevins scored the final goal of the game from 25 yards out, recording her first goal of the season.

Dapolito's goals bring her to 11 on the year, marking the most goals ever scored by a freshmen since the Spartans began competing at the NCAA Division II level.  Dapolito surpassed STAC all time career leader in goals* Kim Griffith who scored 10 goals in her rookie campaign. 

Freshman goalie Cynthia Campion had nine saves in the game recording her second career shutout.  The Lady Spartans will return to action for their final game of the season on Tuesday as they take on Adelphi University.  The game will be played at Herb Reisman Soccer Field.  Game time is slated for 6:30pm.
