Dapolito's Last Second Goal Sends Spartans into Overtime

Dapolito Continues to Lead Lady Spartans

STAC freshmen Katherine Dapolito scored a goal with three seconds left in the game to tie the game 1-1 and send the Spartans into their first overtime.  The Spartans were unable to connect on a goal throughout two overtime periods ending the game in a tie.

Mercy College scored what was almost the only goal of the game with less than twenty minutes remaining in the second half.  However, STAC did not go away and fought hard down to the last few seconds of the game when Dapolito scored her sixth collegiate goal.  The midfielder out of Stony Point, NY is one of five freshmen that round out the Spartans starting lineup.  Dapolito has transitioned very well from the high school ranks to the college level, leading the Spartans with twelve points this season.

Sophomore Nicole Biolsi had her first assist of the season on Dapolito's goal.  In goal, freshmen Julia Karl recorded six saves playing the entire game as well as both overtimes.

The Spartans will play their next two games on the road before coming back home to play cross town rival Dominican College on September 29th.
