Lady Spartans Honor Seniors in Pre-Game Ceremony

Queens Blanks Spartans 3-0

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's soccer team recognized their two seniors Carolina Bruschi and Stacey Samora in a pre-game ceremony before their game against Queens College.  The two senior captains were given flowers by their teammates and coaches in thanks for their hard work and dedication over the past four years.

STAC fell behind early as the Knights Dena Zornberg scored just inside the box off an assist by Melissa Cuartas.  In the second half Cuartas added another goal for Queens off an assist by Jennifer Robbins from the 18 yard line.  Zornberg attacked again with the third goal of the game as the Knights outshot the Spartans 15 to 7.

Bruschi and Samora each had a good look at goal as their shots were saved by Queens goalie Crystal Butler who recorded 5 saves in the shutout.  STAC freshmen Liz Gronwoldt along with junior Renee Remmers made some outstanding hustle plays to ward off the opposing strikers.

The Lady Spartans will travel to the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday for a 6:00 game.
