AIC Holds Off STAC, 4-0

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's soccer team put up a strong fight against host team American International in this afternoons contest.  The Spartans went down one after Sarah Boornazian connected on a penalty kick eleven minutes into the game but fought hard to keep the score 1-0 throughout the rest of the half.  Senior goal keeper Jeanette Gibson had sixteen saves for the day, eight in each half.

The Yellow Jackets scored three more goals in the second half to finish the game at 4-0.  AIC dominated play in the game, outshooting St. Thomas Aquinas 34-3 and taking an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.  The Lady Spartans forwards Liz Gronwoldt and Tori Matt each had a shot attempt.  Sophomore midfielder Katherine Dapolito had a shot on goal that was saved by AIC's Kara Potts.

The Lady Spartans will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon as the travel to Nyack College for a 4 PM game.
